Dat Dog Opens on Magazine

Dat Dog is moving into the Irish Channel, just in time to beef up St. Patrick's Day celebrations. The popular hot dog joint that started on Freret officially opened their second location at 3336 Magazine St. Friday afternoon. The gourmet hot dog and sausage operation will hope to rekindle the same popularity that lead them to outgrow their original Freret spot.

Parasol's Owner Passes, Benefit Planned for Saturday

The Irish Channel mourns the loss of Parasol’s owner John Hogan, who passed away in his sleep on Christmas Eve. The Florida-born transplant married into the city, but Hogan and his wife Thea quickly became neighborhood fixtures after taking over the beloved bar and restaurant. Parasol’s (2533 Constance) is hosting a benefit for the Hogan family on Saturday.

Crescent City Crime Bits

New Orleans Police Blotter: May 16-23

On this week's rundown of the lowdown, another spate of car burglaries hit City Park. Like all of us, this robber likes to go to the Park once a week. Elsewhere, a dramatic murder went down only blocks from the Bayou Boogaloo and an Irish Channel robber got $7 for his troubles. Crescent City Crime Bits provides all the New Orleans crime of the past week, all in one place.

Woman Dons Little Black Dress, Robs 3 Cabbies

by Shay Sokol

A woman that one victim said was wearing a tight black dress and a fedora robbed three United Cab drivers at gunpoint in the Irish Channel early this morning, police said. In the first incident, a cab driver arrived in the 2400 block of Chippewa to pick up a fare called in via dispatch at 3:13am. A black female entered the cab and pulled out a pistol.

New Orleans Police Blotter: May 9-16

On this week's spread of sins, a knife fight stopped the music at the House of Blues, a string of Uptown robberies  and a pawn shop loiterer tried to get into the game himself. Each week, Crescent City Crime Bits provides a complete roundup of wrongdoing.

New Orleans Police Blotter: May 2-9

On this week's docket of dereliction, a group of strip club workers decided they needed more money from another employee's purse, a rental car was used to make a getaway and Ms. Jackson showed she was for real in an argument over laundry. St. Patrick's Day Festivities Across New Orleans

If you're not seeing green in New Orleans this weekend, you're probably not doing something right. Starting early on the morning of Thursday, March 15, and continuing through the bitter end of St. Patrick's Day itself, March 17, there's ample chances to get out in the street, drink some green beer and celebrate St. Patrick's Day as only New Orleanians have the livers to do.
