August 26th, the anniversary of the enactment of the 19th Amendment, marks Women’s Equality Day. However in Louisiana, women still face major obstacles to achieving facets of equality. A look at income gaps and political representation lays out the climb ahead.


IWO Hosts Info Session on Legislative Agenda


In addition to a Naturally N'Awlins Bridge and alcoholic ice cream, the 2014 Louisiana legislative session has some serious questions to address. The Independent Women’s Organization (I.W.O.) invites the public to learn about these, and to familiarize themselves with the legislative process at tomorrow’s meeting. NoDef spoke with Julie Schwam Harris about the issues on the table. 


Candidates Sound Off Tuesday at IWO Forum


Candidates vying for local offices are all signed up for the Feb. 1 elections. Now comes the weigh-in. On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the International Women's Organization is set to sponsor what figures to be the first of many public forums involving the local political hopefuls.
