Harrah's PitPocket

Around 6p.m., the victim was enjoying some adult gaming at the Casino (#8 Canal Street) when he joined the ranks of the many who realize they have fewer valuables than when they entered said building according to the NOPD. Authorities said that the suspect slyly stole the man’s cellphone and credit cards.

Cops Chase Casino Crook

Not all casino crimes involve massive heists or intricate cheating schemes. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is on the case of a simple attempted mugging at Harrah’s (8 Canal Street) on August 2nd.

Harrah's Says Revenues Up in Smoke

By Lucy Leonard

Harrah’s has not been shy about their concerns regarding the smoking ban. This week, the casino played a little “I told you so” on the issue. The Louisiana Gaming Control Board recently released Harrah’s May revenue report and revenues are down significantly.

Up in Smoke

The Lawsuit, Enforcement, Vaping, & a Party on the Eve if the Ban

New Orleans nightlife is about to change. Councilmember LaToya Cantrell likens the shift the integration of Carnival. Others liken it to the government’s history of fiscal mismanagement. Either way, on Tuesday (4.21), smoking indoors will be illegal in NOLA. But what about that lawsuit? How is anyone going to enforce this law? And, where’s the party? NoDef has your answers.

Harrah's Rolls the Dice on Smoking Ban

On January 22, the City Council passed the much ballyhooed smoking ban. On April 22 bars, restaurants, hotel rooms, outdoor arenas and stadiums, the Fair Grounds race course, bus and streetcar stops, public buildings, parks, sidewalks within five feet of a business entrance, and Harrah’s casino will be all be smoke free by law. However, Harrah’s is not ready to stop fighting. The gambling mecca is in the midst of preparing a counter-offer.

Quarter Crime: Surprise Stabber of Decatur, Candle Shop Wick-Up, Menage a Folie

It is hard to shock denizens of the French Quarter, but over the last few days the neighborhood was the scene of several bizarre crimes. A woman on Decatur Street went on a random stabbing spree. A candle shop got held up, and one man’s attempt at a threesome involved snatching instead of sex.

All In: World Series of Poker Circuit Hits Harrah's

Although many tourists (and more than a few locals) rely upon Harrah’s for French Quarter parking and the chance to gamble away a few dollars, some high stakes players are congregating at the downtown casino this week to compete for serious winnings. Today, the final table of the World Series of Poker NOLA circuit event plays out at Harrah’s.

by Kailyn Davillier

Kids are usually the stars of the show at Young Audiences, but the adults are taking the stage at a benefit this Saturday.  The organization is preparing for their 5th annual Dancing for the Arts Gala this Saturday night.

Today in New Orleans 3.25.13

Kick off your workweek with Hot Chip at House of Blues, a birthday celebration for Aretha Franklin, regular weekly gigs, and more. On this day in 1793, Pope Pius XI established the Diocese of Louisiana. Now, more to do this Monday.

Hot 8 Brass, Live Reindeer to Fete on Fulton

It’s hot enough to ditch your Christmas sweaters, but Fridays on Fulton is faking it with a Winter Wonderland right outside of Harrah’s Casino. The event that happens on the first Friday of every month is back this weekend with a special Christmas edition, and they’re bringing art, food, faux snow, and jams from the Hot 8 Brass Band.
