The Hangar RaidedAnother New Orleans bar was raided by police and state alcohol control agents last night. This time, it was The Hangar (1511 S. Rendon), a Gert Town bar that is mainly known for shows featuring rock and metal acts. On Saturday night, state agents entered for an inspection and ended up handing out a bevy of summons for underage drinking, fighting in the presence of police, for a total of 15 summons, according to New Orleans police. It wasn't immediately clear if a show was going on at the time of the "inspection." Click through to see all the summons issued. Today's Events: 8.19.11August 19th, when Google went public (2004), when ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’ ended, and the last U.S. combat brigade crossed the border to Kuwait (2010), National Avation Day, International Humanitarian Day, Coco Chanel (1883), Bill Clinton (1946), Nate Dogg (1969, RIP), and Fat Joes' (1970) birthdays, and Groucho Marx’s death (1977). CJ Ramone to Take The Hangar to 53rd and 3rdby Ben de la Cour CJ Ramone spent the first wave of punk worshiping Dee Dee Ramone. But he probably never expected to step into the shoes of the group's founding member and main songwriter. Life is as unlikely as rap careers. Now, the former marine and native of Queens has struck out on his own, and is set to play a gig tonight at The Hangar on South Rendon Street. Today's Events: 7.19.11June 19th, when the Seneca Falls Women’s Rights Convention opened in New York, introducing the ‘Bloomers’ (1848), when the Paris Metro opened its first line for operation (1900), when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins went into orbit around the moon on Apollo 11 (1969), when the Nicaraguan capital of Managua and the Somoza family were overthrown by Sandinista rebels (1980), when Edgar Degas was born (1834), and when Alan Lomax died (2002). So go to the Degas House, eat at Cafe Degas, and then: |
