Mary Landrieu Pulls Trigger for Failed Gun Control Measure

Congress' gun battle came down to a crucial vote in the U.S. Senate today, as an amendment to expand background checks on gun buyers to gun shows and Internet sales hit the floor of the U.S. Capitol, with families of the victims of the Newtown shootings looking on. The Manchin-Toomey amendment ended up failing (54-46) with the expected help of Louisiana's David Vitter. But, to some surprise, Bayou State senior senator Mary Landrieu ended up supporting the measure.

Bloomberg Gun Ads Target Mary Landrieu, Carville Intervenes

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is putting the soda buckets down this week and picking up his battle against illegal guns. Proving once again that he has enough money to be on TV anytime he wants, the New York City mayor launched a multimillion dollar ad campagin urging support for universal background checks on gun ownership. Mayor Mike has 14 senators in the crosshairs. One of them happens to be Louisiana's own Sen. Mary Landrieu.

La. GOP Goes After Mary Landrieu for Hosting 'Gun Grabbin' Joe Biden

Mary Landrieu cancel a weekend fundraiser, which is to be hosted by (in Villere's own words) "Gun-grabbin" Vice President Joe Biden.
