Armchair Quarterback

Takeaways from Saints v. Bucs

It’s time for takeaways from today’s game between the Saints and the Tampa Bay Bucs. Advance press for the matchup elicited classic “Toilet Bowl” jokes. With little on the line for either team, the post-game talking points provide some measure of relevance to the glorified scrimmage.

LSU to Honor France

Louisiana has long provided a francophone oasis within the States. Friday (11.13) night’s horrific terrorist attacks in France hit XXXX on both sides of the Atlantic. So, tonight, LSU will offer an act of solidarity with the French people.

Southern Hospitality

Tigers Welcome USC to their Den

After the Federal Flood, LSU had to cancel their opener against North Texas and move their Week Two home game against Arizona State University to Tempe. The Tigers did not forgot the experience. After flooding ravaged South Carolina, USC announced that the Gamecocks will have to play a “home game” in Baton Rouge on Saturday (10.10). LSU responded by rolling out the purple carpet.

Flooding May Move USC Game to Tiger Stadium

New Orleanians know a few things about flooding and football teams in diaspora. So, there is little pleasure to be had in the most recent news about LSU’s Saturday (9.10) matchup against the University of South Carolina (USC). The State is reporting that USC may move the SEC showdown to Baton Rouge on account of the devastation in Columbia.

Orange Crush

LSU Defeats Syracuse 34-24

LSU started their season with a pair of statement wins over SEC opponents. The Tigers trip to face unranked Syracuse in upstate New York sounded like weekend vacation after last week. In other words, the matchup had all the makings of a classic trap game—and, it delivered. The Tigers faithful were given a look at the team’s strengths and lots of their weaknesses en route to an uncomfortable 34-24 win.

Near Miss

LSU v. Miss St. Plotlines

After last week’s LSU rainout, the Louisiana football faithful will be treated to two openers this weekend. The Tigers are one of the SEC’s biggest mysteries in 2015. Pundits have picked the Purple n’ Gold to finish everywhere from first to last. Tonight’s game is the conference’s first serious matchup of ranked teams. There will be lots to watch including Leonard Fournette, a pair of high school rivals, and of course, the Mad Hatter.

High School Football Player Fatally Injured During Game

Tragedy struck during a high school football game on Friday (9.04) night. A 16-year-old player was killed during a punt return according to Sheriff Kevin Cobb.

Drolldums: Jesters and Knoxville Draw in the Heat

By Andrew Mullins, III

The New Orleans Jesters grinded out a 1-1 draw against the Knoxville Force Saturday night in the slimy humidity at Pan American Stadium. The Jesters (1-3-2) gained a crucial point in the quest for a spot in the NPSL Southeast division top four and a trip to the playoffs. During the next week, the Jesters play two games for a chance to solidify a playoff ticket with games against the Peach State duo: the Georgia Revolution and the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserve Team.

Not Funny: Jesters Lose 0-4 to Chattanooga FC

By Andrew Mullins III

Chattanooga FC demolished the New Orleans Jesters 4-0 in front of a visibly disappointed home crowd at Pan American Stadium Saturday night. The loss starts a 5 game home streak for the Jesters who need to use the extended stay in City Park to dig themselves out of a 4th place hole.

Home in 'da Dome: ULL Caps Season With 16-3 Win Over Nevada

The Ragin’ Cajuns of University of Louisiana-Lafayette (ULL) know what it means to be at home in the dome. On Saturday (12.20,) afternoon, the Cajuns won their fourth consecutive R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The 16-3 victory of the University of Nevada Wolfpack set an FBS record as the only school to win same bowl game four straight times.
