Tip's Releases Foundation Free Friday Schedule

Not all free, summer concert series are outdoors. Just in time for air conditioning months, the legendary Tipitina’s dropped the schedule for their Foundation Free Fridays. And, locals will have plenty of live music to listen to from June to September.

The New Movement begins a three-weekend residency at the Shadowbox with a performance from sketch comedy group Stupid Time Machine. NOMA wraps up its Murals on Screen film series with another Mexican classic, as well as an appearance from artist Jim Richard. And consult your doctor if your sex drama lasts longer than four hours: Indywood begins screening Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac Volume 1. More details and events for Friday night:

TGIF! Maybe you couldn’t find time to celebrate National Oyster Day this week, but you can see Raw Oyster Cult for free tonight at Tipitina’s. And if you missed Mood Indigo at the French Film Fest, you can catch it at Zeitgeist this week. Plus, NOMA presents an evening of Latin American art appreciation, with a classic piece of Mexican cinema and a Spanish-language tour of their current exhibition. Details this evening:

New Orleans’ fourteenth annual Satchmo SummerFest kicks off at the Old U.S. Mint today. The three-day festival features dozens of local musicians and celebrates the legacy of traditional jazz. The French Film Festival also begins this evening, including a screening of Yves Saint Laurent. Foundation Free Fridays Return to Tiptina's

If you can’t bear the thought of heading to the West Bank for Wednesdays at the Point, Tipitina’s offers an Uptown solution for your free summer music needs. This week Tip’s announced the line-up for their Foundation Free Fridays concert series, sponsored by the Tipitina’s Foundation. The shows take place June 8 through July 27, lasting just long enough to get you through the dog days.
