G&O Food Company Brings Coffee, Cafe Fare to CBD

No longer limited to rushed lunchtime fare and happy hour bars, the CBD has added a breakfast nook and healthy lunch spot to their restaurant roster. Now open inside the old Chevron building (935 Gravier St., Suite 100), the G & O Food Company, a joint project from cousins Britten Knickerbocker and former Pelican Club sous chef David Hughes.  

Banned Together: Casa Borrega Hosts UNIDOS

Hugo Montero and Linda Stone, owners of Casa Borrega, are staying true to their promise to maintain a cultural center within their restaurant. Shortly after the Central City eatery’s (1712 Oretha C. Haley) July 4th opening, the pair invited  UNIDOS (United Non-Discriminatory Indivudals Demanding Our Studies) to speak against Arizona’s ban on ethnic studies, and to gather information about the unique problems facing New Orleans’ Latino community.

Former manager of Dante’s Kitchen and barbeque master Neil McClure has finally transitioned from pop-up to proprietor, with his Uptown restaurant set to open tonight, July 28, at 6pm. After a tussle over permitting, McClure secured a temporary license with the city.

Cajun/Zydeco & Creole Tomato Festivals Come to the Quarter this Weekend

New Orleans will once again be double festing in the Quarter this weekend. The Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival is on at the Old U.S. Mint and the Creole Tomato Festival occupies the French Market.
