Today in NOLA: 4.27.16

Popular mini-fests, Chaz Fest and Fiya Fest, are slated for today. Plus local and regional favorites like St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Rockin’ Dopsie, and the Soul Rebels are on the calendar. On this day in 1806, Donaldsonville was officially dedicated. Now, more to do this Wednesday.

Photo Recap of FiyaFest at Mardi Gras World

The first annual Fiya Fest kicked off on the riverfront on Friday, May 2, at Mardi Gras World. The star studded lineup included George Porter Jr., Maceo Parker, the 101 Runners, and many more. Proceeds benefited local nonprofit the Roots of Music, who also played the festival. Jazz Fest After Dark: 4.27.14

After Eric Clapton and Vampire Weekend finish their sets tonight, the Fair Grounds are taking a brief hiatus from festival madness. But the music continues outside of the Fair Grounds. There is a "rager on the river" featuring Dominic Lalli and Eric Krasno on the Creole Queen. George Clinton is performing alongside DJ Soul Sister, and Marco Benevento is at Blue Nile.
