Prospect Hits Gold, Switches to Triennial Format

The third time’s a charm. New Orleans art festival Prospect took a few runs before finding their pace, but the success of Prospect.3: Notes for Now has been indisputable and the organization is adjusting to reflect the lessons learned. Prospect New Orleans will now be a triennial.

Today in Nola 11.21.14

Tonight is the night of Foo Fighters “surprise” show at the House of Blues. Celebration in the Oaks throws a lofty preview party for it’s quintessential holiday light tradition. Curator Russell Lord gives a lecture on “Photo Unrealism,” a photography exhibit currently on view at NOMA. While you’re waiting for the hours to pass and sail on into the weekend, flip on some tunes by Dr. John – he celebrates his 74th birthday today. Fringe fest keeps on keepin’ on.

The Dogs (& Pigeons) of War

The World War II Museum is opening their latest exhibit this week... "Loyal Forces: The Animals of WWII." The exhibit tell harrowing tales of carrier pigeons and telegraph cable running dogs. Also, prominently featured is the Coast Guard and their extensive use of... horses... to patrol the ocean? The more things change, the more they stay the same.
