'Million Dollar Quartet' Shakes into Mahalia They say timing is everything, and in one divine coincidence, on a random Tuesday in December of 1956, the timing was right for the jam session of the century to be laid to track. In the storefront studio of Sun Records in Memphis, four of rock n’ roll’s founding fathers assembled for an hours long free-form and impromptu play date where they recorded renditions of their favorite songs of gospel, rock, rockabilly and R&B. Krewe of Rolling Elvi to Get Off Their Scooters and Jailhouse Rock by Brad Rhines The Krewe of Rolling Elvi will add some new twists, turns, and hip swivels to their Carnival appearances this year with the Jailhouse Rockers, an all-Elvi dance krewe inspired by the King’s 1957 film. The Rockers debuted late last year, but this will be their first Mardi Gras, as they join the procession of Elvi and Priscillas in this year’s Muses parade. Kristin DiableA Celebrity Music Playlist Hola Nola, and Hola Baton Rouge Native, New Orleans resident, singing songwriting Kristin Diable. After leaving the South to test the music waters of New York City, Ms. Diable has returned to New Orleans and is making moves, from regular Frenchmen gigs to multi-festival digs. Elvis to Protect Mid-City in Tonight's Walk against Crime by Arielle Schecter The Mid-City Yacht Club is hosting a neighborhood party to follow tonight's 3rd District Walk Against Crime. NOPD Captain Harry Dean will lead the march at 6:30pm from St. Patrick's Playground, flanked by "deputized" Rolling Elvi and the Big Easy Roller Girls. Mid-City Yacht Club owner Ben Markey expects nearly 100 people to take part of the event, which will reach the bar by 8pm. "It's going to be good," he said, and NoDef believes him. Hell, any event with roller Elvi and Derby Girls is good in our book.
