Shakedown Street

It’s easy to associate Krewe du Vieux with their satire alone. (A parade renowned for their giant penises can have that effect). Still, KdV does a lot of good for the community. On Thursday (1.21), krewe members and an entourage of Naughty Nurses will hit up local businesses for donations to the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic (NOMC).

Dat Dog, Adelita's Way, On A Leash for LA-SPCA

Dat Dog is a little wacky, but not the type of establishment to go off the leash. To the contrary, the popular hot dog destination will be hosting “Dog on a Leash” to raise funds for the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA-SPCA). On Wednesday (9.24), the Dat Dog downtown location (601 Frenchmen Street) will be the site of a Yappy Hour and an Eat n’ Greet with rockers Adelita’s Way.

Baby's Murder Leaves Police, Community Searching for Answers

Less than 24 hours after 13-month old Londyn Samuels was murdered, community leaders gathered at Cafe Reconcile as well as at the NOPD Headquarters. At Cafe Reconcile, a crowd of relatives, employees and the area's City Councilwoman gave voice to a neighborhood fed up with a pattern of gun violence. Across town, the City's mayor and NOPD opined the lack of answers in the case. Crimestoppers has only received one tip about the case, Mayor Mitch said.
