James Beard Award Winner 2017: Rebecca Wilcomb, Herbsaint


Restaurants and bars in New Orleans had another reason to let les bon temps roule this week, as some of their own won big at the James Beard Awards in Chicago this week. Known as the Oscars of the food & beverage world, the annual event nearly always features a few New Orleans faces.

The rest of America is continuing to affirm what we already knew: the food in NOLA is great. On Monday (5.02) evening, tasterati gathered in Chicago for the annual James Bear Awards, the Oscars of the restaurant industry. New Orleans chefs took home three big honors.

NOWFE Bulks Up Lineup for 2016



The New Orleans Wine & Food Experience (NOWFE) is really kicking it up in 2016. The ever-popular Royal Street Stroll and the GrandTasting will return, but they will be supplemented by an impressive roster of special events ranging from fishing with Donald Link to a Franco-Spanish Hog War.


Beard Goggles


Be it beads or rhinestones, New Orleanians like their bling. And, on Tuesday (2.15), several local restaurants move one step closer to take home a big, shiny medal. Nine NOLA establishments made the cut as finalists for the 2016 James Beard Awards.


Beard Barons


New Orleanians know that the food here is outstanding, but sometimes a little affirmation is nice. On Wednesday (2.17), the James Beard Foundation released their list of 2015 awards semifinalists.


E-Z Bake


La Boulangerie (4600 Magazine Street) reopened today. The popular uptown bakery took a brief hiatus from business during a change in ownership. Breath easy, the bakery is still in good hands. Donald Link (Herbsaint, Cochon, Peche) and company are now running the show.


The Missing Link


In New Orleans, one know that they have reached some marker of success when they have have their own foundation. After dominating the James Beard Awards for several years, chef Donald Link now has his own non-profit along with business partner Stephen Stryjewski.

Emeril's Boudin, Bourbon, & Beer Returns Bigger and Badder



NOLA has few a holy trinities of her own. One favorite are edibles beginning with the letter B: Boudin, Bourbon & Beer. The event that brings it all together is returning for its fourth year at Champions Square on Friday November 7th. Co-chairs Emeril Lagasse and Donald Link (Cochon, Herbsaint, Peche Seafood Grill) head an all star group of chefs cooking boudin to benefit The Emeril Lagasse Foundation. 


Sue Zemanick, Ryan Prewitt Take James Beard Awards


The James Beard Awards were once again kind to the Crescent City. At Monday night's NYC gala, New Orleans restaurants took home honors in both the regional category that many expected, and a big win in a national category.


NOLA Chefs Among James Beard Awards Semifinalists


The bounty of New Orleans' food offerings is growing broader, but we're not losing our quality. Crescent City restaurants and chefs are once again popping up all over the list of nominees for this year's prestigious James Beard food awards. Known as the Oscars of the food world, the Beard awards released its initial list of semifinalists Wednesday.
