Jackie Clarkson to Run for District C


Now that Kristin Gisleson Palmer is out of the race, Jackie Clarkson is moving in for a chance at her former District C council seat. The current Council Prez and former Representative for Algiers (District 102) is vying to continue her long history with Downtown and the West Bank.

Sources within City Hall confirmed Tuesday that District C City Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will not run for a second term. The councilmember was said to want more time with her family.


City Council District C Race Draws Challenger, State Rep Out


New Orleans' fall election season isn't over yet, but that doesn't mean it's too soon to start talking about the winter cycle. One of the positions up for election on the Feb. 1 slate is the City Council's District C, which represents the French Quarter, Treme, Marigny-Bywater, and Algiers, among other neighborhoods. The seat is currently held by Kristin Gisleson Palmer. One candidate will make her run official tonight, and the son of a challenger who ran last time won't make a bid this time around.


Big Easy Gets Bronze Award for Bike Friendliness


Miles of newly painted bike lanes have New Orleanians leaving their cars at home in favor of two-wheeled vehicles. Trading the truck for the Trek has not gone unnoticed, but the Big Easy is still far down the path to first-class cycling status. This afternoon, District C City Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer and the Regional Planning Committee accepted the Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community award.
