Today in New Orleans: 7.6.12 Today, Kermit Ruffins performs Armstrong classics at his Treme Speakeasy, DJ Soul Sister presents the New Orleans premiere screening of Thunder Soul at Café Istanbul, and a pair of local authors look to stimulate the brain matter. On this day in history, Rebirth Brass Band trombonist Stafford Agee was born in Biloxi, MS in 1971, blues legend and Algiers-native Memphis Minnie passed away in Memphis in 1973 at age 76, and trumpeter, composer, session player and music educator Clyde Kerr, Jr. passed away in 2010 at age 67. Kerr taught Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Nicholas Payton, Terence Blanchard, Irving Mayfield, Christian Scott and Trombone Shorty. Now for today's notables:
