A Look Back at Hogs for the Cause

by Brad Rhines

They may have been rivals in the NOLA Burger Brawl, but The Company Burger and Cowbell joined forces over the weekend to prove they know a thing or two about pig at Saturday’s Hogs for the Cause.  The team—led by Adam Biderman of The Company Burger and featuring Brack May of Cowbell—took home the Grand Champion prize, bolstered in part by their pork tongue sliders on rye with Swiss cheese and mustard slaw, which earned first place in the Porkpourri category.  Photos and a full list of winners after the jump.

NOLA Burger Brawl Update

For the last week, Pattymonium has seized upon the New Orleans food world, as the NOLA Burger Brawl has raged on in the name of crowning the city's best beef. But the first round only has two days left. By early next week, the 16 joints will be whittled down to the Elite 8. Voting in the first round closes Sunday, Sept. 17, at midnight. You might not be happy with the draw, but your favorite burger spot might be vanquished. So hold the pickles and vote now. Check out the current scoreboard by clicking through:

Ka-Chang!: Momofuku Scouting NOLA Locations?

Star Chef  (Momofuku, Ma Peche, Saam Bar (NYC)) and Treme guest star, David Chang is in the Big Easy this week for a quick trip. Unshy about bringing a little bit of the flavor of New York down South, you can read all about it through various interconnected, Web-based social media outlets! Apparently, Chang spent some time at uptown slow foodery, Cowbell, and he liked it. Chang described the visit on his 4Square account, "Fantastic spot. Apple pies. Chowder. Burgers! Get it w fried egg and bacon. Agogo sauce. Good people." Chang also spent some time with NOLA writer Lolis Eric Elie discussing the Hornets. There was undoubtedly a long discussion of the conceptual parameters of being in.
