Take it off and take off! This Saturday (June 14th), the World Naked Bike Ride holds its fifth annual outing in New Orleans. Under the tagline “Bare As You Dare,” the ride is known for the nudies but also encourages all their painted and scantily clad kin to join.

Mirliton Festival Gets New Bywater Digs

Downtown New Orleanians are once again gourd-ing its loins for one of their biggest annual parties.The Bywater Neighborhood Association hosts its 23rd annual Mirliton Festival on Saturday. The mirliton is a unique heirloom perrenial squash, native to Louisiana. Since the beginning of the festival, neighborhood chefs have spent the first weekend in November cooking it up into delicacies.

Mirliton Festival Gets Country Club Kickoff, with Daiquiris

It's almost time for the annual Bywater party that celebrates neighborhood ties and local vegetables: the Mirliton Festival. But before spreading out in Markey Park, fest fans are invited to relax poolside with a daiq. Tonight is the Mirliton Festival Kickoff Party, which aims to get everyone prepared for Mirliton madness, and introduce the world to a signature, delicious daiquiri: the Bywater Bomber. The party is hosted by the Bywater Neighborhood Association, and aims to continue the fest's mission of celebrating the rich Bywater culture.
