All-Star Country Fest Celebrates the Sounds of Louisiana

For the New Orleanian who just ain’t getting their festival fix when Jazz Fest kicks off this Friday, look no further than a four-day celebration of Southern Americana music. Running April 30-May 3, the 2017 All-Star Country Fest will hop around town at a handful of venues in the Marigny and Bywater. Sponsored by NOLA County, a radio program showcasing Ameripolitan Music on WHIV 102.3FM, All-Star Country Fest features the sounds of Louisiana. The fest offers a lineup of honky-tonk, NOLA soul, rockabilly, Ameripolitan, Zydeco, Cajun, swamp-pop, country blues, and more.

Album Review: Bobby Bones

By Brad Bohannan

Bobby Bones has become as staple to my morning drive as I take my boy to school.  Much to my chagrin, my 11-year-old would change it to the Bobby Bones Show every morning.  After a few weeks of this morning drive routine I found myself becoming a fan of him and his Pimp-N-Joy charity work. In fact, I had to be one of the first to download the Bobby Bones & the Raging Idiots new album titled, The Critics Give it 5 Stars.

Barking All the Time

The Hill Country Hounds Talk Roots

A different kind of sound is building a following in the New Orleans music scene. The Hill Country Hounds blend the rhythms of the Crescent City and the Appalachian region of West Virginia in a style they call, “Louisianamericana.” The New Orleans-based band combines the “Boom-Chicka-Boom” rhythm akin to Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three with the ruggedness of rock n’ roll and the beat of New Orleans blues.

Six Beers & the Truth

Jim McCormick Talks Songs Over Suds

Having seen the spirits of New Orleans loosen even the tightest of tongues, your author was inspired to begin interviewing interesting people after a few libations. 'Six Beers and the Truth' is a series wherein the interviewee has enjoyed six beers before giving the interview. While some are emotional, some are funny and some are shocking...they are all candid and honest. Please enjoy 'Six Beers And The Truth with Jim McCormick'.
