Morrell Fires Back at Chicago Tribune's McQueary

The Chicago Tribune’s Kristen McQueary conjured public outrage on Thursday (8.13) after penning a tasteless commentary piece in which she suggested that Chicago would be a better place if it was hit by a Katrina-esque storm. The denizens of social media were not impressed by a followup piece that did not offer an apology. Today, the backlash migrated from Facebook to RL with Louisiana State Senator J.P. Morrell weighing in on the matter.

Nicky Nichols Shows Illinois How to Video Poker

Once upon a Bill Jefferson, Illinois trained our skullduggery specialists how to play the game. But now that the Prairie State is rolling out video poker, the student has become the master. Nicky Nichols, son-in-law of the Louisiana gambling legend that helped sink Edwin Edwards' riverboat, already made a fortune on the machines down the bayou. Now, he's running circles around fledgling bar machine barons in Illinois. The Chicago Tribune reports he's even brought a few legislators from the house that Huey built along for the ride.
