Chewbacchus to Host Weird Science Fair

Though the Intergalatic Krewe of Chewbacchus is known best for their epic Mardi Gras parade, the “most amazing nerd horde in the galaxy” (their words) is up to sci-fi fun all year round. After leading the biggest little parade in the galaxy Shoeboxus on Star Wars Day and the 48-hour party Chewathon last month, the krewe is set to bring a bit of knowledge to the masses this summer.

Today in NOLA: 5.04.16

The Fest has passed, but some of the celebration lingers. A mini-parade honoring Star Wars is on the docket. Locals are returning to their weekly gigs but some out-of-towners are still laying down the funk. On this date in 1970, author T.H. Williams won a Pulitzer Prize for his biography on Huey Long. Now, more to do before it gets too late.

Parade Planner: ’tit Rex, Chewbacchus (Weather, Route, Details)

The Uptown route is packed with five different parades today. Downtown will feature a couple more unorthodox rolls. First, Carnival’s smallest parade, the krewe formerly known as “‘tit Rex” will pull their satirical shoeboxes through the Marigny. Then, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus will celebrate nerdom in all forms in one of the season's longest parades.

Today in NOLA: 1.30.16

Today in New Orleans, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus rolls on Frenchmen Street, and the Pelicans will take on the Nets. Russell Batiste and friends will play funk at the Maple Leaf, and G-Eazy will play at the Orpheum Theater. On this day in 1835, Battle of New Orleans hero Andrew Jackson managed to survive America's first presidential assassination attempt when a deranged man fired two pistols at him in the House chambers. For the rest of today's happenings, read on.

Chewbacchus Awakens: 2016 Route Released

Who is Kylo Ren really? Where is Luke? What's up with the new lightsabers? There are a lot of questions in the sci-fi world these days. However, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus answered a few of their own this morning. The science fiction (and fantasy) themed carnival organization announced a new route and time today.

Burning Han?

SciFi Krewe Ready to Chewburnitall

The planet Kashyyyk is home to the wookies. The Nevada desert is home to Burning Man. But, only New Orleans can call themselves home to the first annual IGNITION:Chewburnitall. The three day art, music, and science extravaganza from the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is set to lift off October 15th through 18th.

Fourth Field: Chewbacchus' MiniParade Shoeboxus

It may not be Carnival season yet, but something familiar is happening in the Marigny on Monday (5.04) night. Simply put, Chewie, we’re home. In honor of May the Fourth, International Star Wars Day, the intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus will be rolling through the Triangle with a miniature parade, Shoeboxus.

The Fest has passed, but some of the celebration lingers. A mini-parade and a mini-fest are both in store. Locals are returning to their weekly gigs but some out-of-towners are still laying down the funk. On this date in 1970, author T.H. Williams won a Pulitzer Prize for his biography on Huey Long. Now, more to do before it gets too late.

The Millennium Falcon made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus will be taking their time as they parade 3.8 miles through downtown New Orleans. The science fiction (and fantasy) themed carnival organization announced a new route and royalty today.
