Danziger Protest in CBD

On Saturday (4.30), a protestors took to the streets of the CBD to rally against sentence reductions in the Danziger Bridge shootings. The group chanted and cheered speakers who labelled the new penalties handed to officers involved in the 2005 shooting and coverup, six days after Hurricane Katrina, are a miscarriage of justice.


Overnight Crime Report: Mugging, Cabby Robbed, Fatal Hit and Run


Crime was down on Friday (4.02) night. The New Orleans Police Department only noted an armed robbery, another cabbie held-up, and a fatal hit and run in the Major Offense Log (MOL).


Man Killed in Fatal CBD Wreck


A 39-year-old man died in a car crash in the Central Business Distirct (SBD) on Monday (1.25) morning according to the New Orleans Police department.  


Bank Job in the CBD


During Hollywood South’s boom years, the CBD’s banks served as sets for a few bank robbery movies like “American Heist.” On Monday (1.04), a bank in the area was the scene of a real life heist.


The Brick Thief


Cops in NOLA have busted perps for stealing air conditioners, cars, liquor, and even eggs. Today, they might be facing a first,. On Thursday (12.17), the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) launched an investigation into a brick thief.


Road Closures Coming For Race & Fest


This weekend boasts a po-boy festival as well as running fest to burn off those calories. However, jogging might be the best way to get around some neighborhoods over the next couple of days. The City has issued a warning about the massive street culture that  will accompany the events.


Construction Alert: Canal Street


Traffic in the French Quarter, Treme,  and CBD is about to get worse—again. The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) announced imminent emergency sewer line repairs that will require ripping up downtown streets and lots of traffic delays.


NOPD Trying to Get "Head"


Despite the impassioned national debate about guns and the Second Amendment, one local man allegedly decided to let a virtual stranger named “Head” check out his gun—in his parked car—at night. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) said that the story did not end well.

Gentle reader, as sojourners in this life we must take our entertainment where we find it. The dive bar and the neighborhood bar please us well. But let us indulge our curiosity and step inside an establishment that can be many places at once, brushing by geography and local culture like the broadcast of a syndicated television program. It’s time to take a peek into a chain bar – if only a regional chain bar. We’re off for a game or two, and perhaps a drink, at Barcadia.


Assault Squared: Double Stabbing, Double Shooting


The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) are investigating two sets of double assaults that occurred overnight. In Mid City two teens were shot. A few hours later, a double stabbing went down in the CBD.
