Mailbag: NOPD Must Embrace Project NOLA


Crime is on the rise and so are the surveillance cameras that let locals stream videos of violence at the click of a mouse. Bryan Lagarde of Project NOLA, a crime camera advocacy group, says that if the police worked better with his organization crime might be on the decline. Lake Vista Snatching Suspect Sought


The affluent Lake Vista neighborhood is normally known for secluded yards and lots of banana trees. Yet, on Tuesday (9.15), the bucolic Lakeview subdivision was the scene of the City’s latest burglary according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

Hollywood South’s glory days may be waning, but plenty of locals are still being caught on camera. At a presser on Thursday (8.20), the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation (NOPJF) rolled out a new plan to put more security cameras in crime hot spots.


Mailbag: ProjectNOLA Demands City Support


ProjectNOLA founder, Bryan Lagarde is angry with City Hall. Today, he writes an open letter to the Mayor demanding that the City help maintain the ProjectNOLA camera system by assisting in the search for private funding as well as supplying volunteers to screen crime footage.
