Today, the New Orleans Food and Wine Experience kicks off, New Orleanians get a sneak peek of a documentary about violence in our city and one of the city's best sax men plays on Bourbon. On this day in New Orleans history, Ernie K-Doe's Mother-in-Law hit  #1 on the Billboard pop charts (1961), and five members of N.W.A. were arrested after a 50-person riot broke out at the Sheraton Hotel when the L.A. rappers were denied entry (1992).
