State of Play: Theatre Listings May 5-11

The annual post-JazzFest eruption of theatre begins. Get a jump on what’s about to be a raft of difficult choices (and congratulate these companies for doing their tech while the festival was still dominating the city) by enjoying a selection of the following, listed in order of opening:

Eyes, Ears and Hose

Lee Deigaard’s SubMERGE at CAC: Art Review

Lee Deigaard is looking for patterns.  The New Orleans artist’s work, SubMERGE, is installed inside the circular ramp that winds its way to the third floor at the Contemporary Arts Center, and the piece fits beautifully into the space.

Today in New Orleans 10.14.13

Tonight, rock n' roll trio Black Rebel Motorcycle Club come to the Civic in the CBD, and the New Orleans Film Festival continues throughout the city. On this day in 2003, local composer and fiddler Theresa Andersson signed on with Basin Street Records. Now, more local gigs to kick off your week.
