Chase Follows Low Stakes Stickup in Quarter

The Eighth District and a few of their friends got a serious workout Saturday (5.09) morning in the Quarter. After a low stakes robbery, a wild chase around the Vieux Carre ensued. Heck, a cabbie even joined in the hunt.

Teens Collared for Carjacking in Two Cases

In two separate incidents, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) thwarted a pair of carjackings. In the Bywater, three teens, too young for licenses, were arrested. In the East, it took a car chase to bring the suspect to justice.

Burgundy Beating: 1 Arrested, 1 At-Large

NOPD identified two suspects for one of this week's Burgundy beatings, one of which  was already in jail.  Jamon Millon, 30, and Galbin Bourgeois, 25, were identified as two of the four people captured on video beating and robbing a group of three men near the corner of St. Ann and Burgundy Sts. in the French Quarter early Tuesday morning.

Ruby Slipper Brings Brunch to Burgundy

by M.D. Dupuy

Frenchmen Street is great for a quick bite at Mona’s or tachos from 13, but nearby residents lack options in terms of neighborhood dining.  Local restaurateurs from Ruby Slippers heard the call of the Marigny folk and brought brunch to Burgundy. That’s right, the breakfast favorite opened their third location on the corner of Touro, and they even added a new item to their expansive menu.

Burgundy Brawl: 2 Critical After Sat. Night Stabbing, Beating in Marigny

MARIGNY TRIANGLE - A post-Krewe de Vieux skirmish in the 1900 block of Burgundy left two men in critical condition Saturday night, New Orleans police confirmed. Around 11:30 p.m., neighbors observed a loud argument between two groups of people that began on Burgundy between Touro and Pauger. Ultimately, the altercation escalated into violence, ending with multiple stabbings and at least one beating, witnesses said.

Bywater to Succumb to Siren Song

Since the coordinated system of e-lerts known as NOLAReady was introduced, the folks manning the shiny button have become adept at providing up-to-the-minute information about emergencies and crime. In fact, this morning they appear to have added the capability to predict a hullabaloo before it happens. A missive went out alerting residents in the 4300 block of Burgundy to the forthcoming presence of squad cars and police sirens.
