Pulp Party: Bukowski's Birthday Bash

The International House will be hosting a birthday tribute for Charles Bukowski tonight, from 8p.m. to 11p.m. (Bukowski’s actual birthday was August 16th, 1920.)  The event will mimic the style of a writers’ salon, with poetry readings, an open mic, 7’installation art, food and drinks.

Bukowski Birthday Bash Sat. at Loa Bar

Poet Charles Bukowski’s mythology may lie in the dark side of Los Angeles, but a vist to the other LA proved instrumental in providing his start. Unlike Tennessee Williams and Walker Percy, whose identities are forever linked with the city, Bukowski came and went, only staying in the city for a short time. This Saturday, August 16th, marks what would have been Bukowski’s 94th birthday. In celebration, the Loa Bar at the International House Hotel (221 Camp St.) is throwing a party in celebration.
