Confectioners Compete for King Cake Fest (Photos)

Yesterday near Da' Dome, local bakeries from Metairie to the Marigny competed in Champions Square for the king cake crown. Brandon Robert captured some highlights from the fundraiser, a benefit for Ochsner Hospital. Click through for more photos.

The Ladies and Men of Unity stepped out in Central City this afternoon. The parade began and ended at Second and Danneel Sts., and the theme this year was "Back in Stride, Keeping it Simple." The Sophisticated Ladies of Class, the Brothers of Change and the Men of Integrity walked along with the group. 

Big Easy Roller Girls Host Off-Season Sessions (PHOTOS)

Even though the Big Easy Rollergirls' season ended in October, the organization continues to promote the sport in Southeast Louisiana. On Sunday, BERG held the first of three New Orleans Project Derby sessions, which invite derby skaters from the surrounding area to take part in a day of scrimmages and skate maintenance seminars.

The Big Nine Social Aid and Pleasure Club stepped out on St. Claude for yesterday's second line Sunday, beginning at noon.  Club President Ronald Lewis is known for throwing extravagant street parties, and this year's parade lived up to the hype. Hundreds poured into the Bywater and the Treme to celebrate Louisiana's rich food traditions this weekend. Bands and fans celebrated the beloved mirliton at 700 Piety Street, while crowds in Louis Armstrong Park sampled creole gumbo from some of the city's favorite restaurants. NoDef's Brandon Robert captured some highlights from the pair of festivals.

Halloween in the French Quarter (PHOTOS)

Hordes of costumed carousers took to the streets of New Orleans on Halloween, and, as ever, the center of the action was in the Vieux Carre. The annual Halloween parade at Molly's at the Market served as the focal point, but the crowds offered just as much to look at as the marchers.
