Brad Pitt's Make it Right in Wrong Neighborhood, Says TNR

Once again, a national magazine writer has seen fit to opine the "gushy magazine coverage" given Brad Pitt's Make it Right Foundation with some not-so-gushy magazine coverage. Writing in The New Republic, Lydia Depillis says the Lower 9-focused organization could be doing more if its attention were instead turned to other New Orleans neighborhoods.

Dewing What He Can: Lil’ Wayne Cuts Ribbon on 9th Ward Skate Park

Hollygrove native Lil Wayne returned home today for the Isaac-delayed opening of his Mountain Dew sponsored skate park to the Ninth Ward community. The centerpiece of the “DEWeezy Project,” the park is located in the Lower 9th Ward Village, and is a cooperative venture between Brad Pitt’s Make it Right Foundation, California Skate parks, and Weezy F Baby himself.

Brad Pitt Checking His Guest List for 'Make it Right' Gala

It still won't have more skin than MOMS, but NOLA benevolent-celebrity-in-chief Brad Pitt is getting together a mile-long guest list for a late winter party at the CBD's Hyatt Regency. The March 10 charity gala will benefit the screen actor's Make it Right Foundation, which continues to build those funky, energy efficient houses in the Lower 9, and yada-yada. But, really, about those celebs. The Y-chrosomed half of Brangelina appears to be digging outside the usual Cage-Bullock-Kid Rock axis when sending out invitations.

Verti Marte Feeding Frenzy for Pitt, Jolie, and Paparazzi

Once upon a pre-Katrina, New Orleans was the place celebrities could come to blend in. Passing these out-of-town megastars on our skinny, aging streets were residents who held their own localized legends over anything they could see on Access Hollywood. And the gossip was better about the people in town, anyway. But, with the Make It Right mode and Hollywood South up and coming, things are trending in a different direction. Witness: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie make news, just by taking a walk!

Producers Meet Affleck Quota for Boston-Set Flick

by Sean Rhoads

A veritable Super Friends of movie stars is set to descend on New Orleans later this month in the form of Cogan's Trade, a mob thriller slated for release in 2012. Ray Liotta is the latest addition to the superteam of film stars, consisting of Oscar winner Javier Bardem, Oscar nominees Brad Pitt, Mark Ruffalo, and Casey Affleck, along with James Gandolfini, now moodily brooding over a mountain of Emmys.

Pitt'ed Against Fate

By Shay Sokol

That beautiful face America loves will return to the beautiful place it belongs to film “Cogan’s Trade” in March 2011. Pitt will again team up with Andrew Dominick, the director of “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” along with others from the underrated epic, Casey Affleck and Sam Rockwell. (There's even talk of Bill Murray joining the star studded cast.)
