'What's Voodoo Fest?'Local Musician John Michael Rouchell on Voodoo History, Advice From Parliament and Playing Opposite Blink 182Even though the out of town acts get prime billing, Voodoo fest has plenty of locals. Often, the NOLA acts play alongside these national acts. But, other times they're billed on opposite stages. Today, the namesake of Mynameisjohnmichael talks about being in both of these positions. Voodoo, Day-By-DayThis afternoon, we were feeling in a rut. Deciding which Lady Gaga outfit to wear for Halloween is just so hard. So, we decided to do some cyberstalking on Facebook. And, lo and behold, Voodoo festival had released the schedule for which bands will play each day. (Still no times and stages, though) As expected, the big headliners are evenly split across all three days, with Soundgarden Friday, Snoop Dogg and Blink 182 Saturday and The Meters and Jack White's Rancoteurs rounding things out Sunday. Check out the full list after the jump. Blink 180 VoodooHalloween may be a long way off, but already we're thinking about costumes (Casey Anthony or Amanda Knox?) and plans. NOLA will not disappoint. Millennial pop favorites, Blink 182, will be coming to town. Additional names have been added to the 2011 Voodoo lineup, and Mark, Tom, and Travis have officially climbed aboard. The band announced a reunion in 2009, with album and tour plans galore, but continuous postponements have created a lot of anticipatory buzz; this City Park stint will be one of the first major performances for the trio since 2004. Joining Blink is My Chemical Romance, Ray Davies, Cheap Trick, Soundgarden, Girl Talk, Major Lazer, Lafayette’s GIVERS, and more. Stay tuned for more schedule hype-nouncements. |
