That's What Lovers DoDeconstructing 'Treme' with Ben Schenck of Panorama Brass Band The clarinetist recalls gigging in the wake of K, his time writing charts for the HBO show and getting bumped by Wardell Quezergue. Pay It Forward: Musicians Profit from Treme According to Billboard.com, HBO’s “Treme” watches out for local musicians spotlighted in the series. From playing weekly gigs in bars to entering the homes of millions across the country, David Simon’s NOLA-gram has definitely created awareness for many neighborhood ‘celebs’ (hola Kermit). Beyond recognition, the show’s also helping these musicians get that paper. Between hiring bands to perform (as opposed to actors), synchronization, licensing, and appearance fee pay-outs (last year’s numbers exceeded $1 million), the performers profit.
