This week it was announced that Karl Hartdegen, brewer at Big Easy Bucha, has been recognized as a Certified Cicerone. Hartdegen is the eighth Louisiana resident in history — the sixth in New Orleans — to be designated this title in the competitive Cicerone Certification Program.

Big Easy Bucha Leads the Farm-to-Bottle Kombucha Movement

Tucked amongst somewhat nondescript buildings in Gert Town is bright pop of color where New Orleans’ first and only small batch kombucha brewery, Big Easy Bucha, greets its visitors. That immediate splash of vibrancy is carried forward into the brewery, which crafts the fermented beverage of choice for both the health-conscious and trend-conscious of today.

The weekend is over, but this Monday night you can ease into the work week at Big Easy Bucha’s night of yoga and fresh kombucha. Aurora Nealand will be doing her thing with the Royal Roses at Maison. Simon Berz will be joined by Kidd Jordan and James Singleton at Hi-Ho. Monkey Hill Bar screens Eddie Murphy’s iconic standup special. On this day in 1934, Rev. Gerald Smith delivered a speech to Sulphur’s “Share Our Wealth” Club. Now, more to do today.
