A Little Help From Our Friends: Beatles Piano Fetches 99K for Habitat

Ebony and ivory are capable of far more than perfect harmony. With a little help from the remaining Beatles, the East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Build Program raised $98,888 by auctioning off a hand painted piano signed by Sir Paul and Ringo.

Paul McCartney Postpones NOLA Concert

John Lennon once said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, but it seems that fame could propel neither onto New Orleans stages this month. On Monday, Sir Paul McCartney went the way of the Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Tour and upended his June concert plans in the Crescent City.

Tonight on TV: NOLA Beatles Guru Turns in Hard Day's Night on 'History Detectives'

Proving once again that it's Antiques Roadshow's hipper little cousin, History Detectives returns to PBS tonight with an all-rock 'n roll lineup featuring Dylan, Zappa and the Beatles. The Fab Four's part of the bill will be helmed by New Orleanian Bruce Spizer, who also happens to be a raging Beatles expert. On the episode Spizer heads to Miami Beach to the hotel where the Beatles stayed for their famed Ed Sullivan Show appearance, and gets to the truth of whether a pair of autographs are the handiwork of some fool on a hill, or that of John Lennon and Ringo Starr. Read more at Spizer's prolific site.

Hola Nola: Vol XXII

White Linen Listenin'

Hola Nola- and Hola one of the hottest happenings of the NolArt world the summer has to offer- the Whitney's White Linen Night. Once a year, Julia Street may as well be a P. Diddy's Hamptons throw-down, with crowds clad in a uniform pasty pallid pallet. In honor of this ever classy costumed occasion, here lies the soundtrack to blast while primping to dress and impress.
