The creative - not to mention boozy - atmosphere of New Orleans has nurtured great writers for decades. From feminist Kate Chopin to flamboyant Truman Capote to the macho Errnest Hemingway, the vibe and jive of the Crescent City shaped some of America's important works.  Now, the man who brought you Rick’s Cabaret, Robert Watters, honors our literary past with the Backspace Bar & Kitchen (139 Chartres), which is holding a soft opening today (Friday, Nov. 9).
