Today's Events: 1.31.12 Today, Black American Music bands do battle in the Marigny, singer songwriters venture to Siberia and Rebirth returns to the Maple Leaf. On this day in Louisiana history riverboat and Preservation Hall banjo man Emmanuel Sayles was born (1907), and the Grateful Dead was busted on drug charges in New Orleans after a show at The Warehouse. The incident is thought to inspire the classic, "Truckin'" (1970).
