Buddy Roemer Tops Americans Elect Primary, Doesn't Win

As usual, Buddy Roemer has enough attention and credibility to knock on the door, but he doesn't have the numbers to cross the threshold. Virtually mirroring his frequent GOP debate denial, the former Louisiana governor is sitting atop the polls of the Americans Elect presidential primary, which has been seeking to put a third major candidate on the November ballot that was nominated directly by voters. But, with the voting over, Roemer lacks the minimum number of votes required to become this grassroots movement's candidate.

Buddy Roemer Bows Out of Republican Race

Unike seemingly every other Republican presidential candidate, Buddy Roemer never mounted a surge. Since the former Louisiana governor wasn't invited to any debates, the attendant media attention that coupled a burst in the polls would've helped him more than most. So, with another debate looming and Stephen Colbert running in front of him in one poll, Roemer is hatching his escape plan from the GOP race, according to the Chicago Tribune.
