Algiers’ Raising Cane’s (4009 Behrman Highway) is re-opening tomorrow, less than six weeks after an arsonist tried to raze Cane's. Residents Report Illness After Toxic Leak in Refinery

The smell that wafted through the GNO last week was more noxious than the standard NOLA stench, and residents are feeling its effects long after the air has cleared. A benzene and hydrogen sulfide leak in a Chalmette refinery prompted odor reports from Algiers to Metairie, and the Louisiana Bucket Brigade found that 50 percent of people they interviewed experienced related health issues.

Suspected Raising Cane's Arsonist Still at-Large

On Friday night, a customer at a Raising Cane’s location in Algiers apparently decided the chicken wasn’t crispy enough. The man, who is still at large, set the restaurant located at 4009 Behrman Highway on fire, according to New Orleans Fire Department officials. No one was injured in the two-alarm fire, which was under control in less than an hour.

The 11-year-old girl who went missing from Algiers Saturday night returned safely, according to police.
