Today in NOLA/Jazz Fest After Hours: 4.30.16


Jazz Fest is back and so are the insane after hours offerings. Haynes, Denson, Galactic, Rebirth, and the Dozen are just a few of the acts jamming tonight. On this day in 1812, Louisiana officially became the 18th state in the Union. And, there is lots to do to celebrate statehood.

Once you leave the Fairgrounds, check out Shorty Fest at House of Blues or Morning 40 on St. Claude, plus some local after-hours Fest music on Frenchmen. On this day in 1997, former Governor Edwards’ house was raided by FBI officials. Now, more ways to start the last weekend of JazzFest.


Today in NOLA/Jazz Fest After Hours: 4.23.16


The Fest train is now moving at full throttle. Pearl Jam and Van Morrison are headlining at the Fair Grounds. After hours, Cypress Hill is staging a reunion, the Revivalists are at the Orpheum, Ghostland Observatory is at the Orpheum, the London Souls are at Republic, and Trombone Shorty is at the Saenger.  Plus, every jazz and funk great that you can think of is in town. Today, Orpheus is descending at UNO while comedians battle it at the Wolf. The Ogden is screening a James Booker doc. From Mardi Gras Indians to singer songwriters, there is plenty going on tonight. Farmers Markets, concerts in the park, and Ogden After Hours are just a few of the options in New Orleans today. On this day in 1818, PGT Beauregard, inventor and first prominent general of the Confederacy during the Civil War, was born in St. Bernard Parish. Now, more to do this Thursday.


Jazz Fest After Hours: 5.02.15


The Fest ends tomorrow. So, make the most of tonight! A couple big acts like Kreutzman’s Voodoo Dead, Primus, and the EDM’s Go Hard Tour are in town. Plus, there is funk, jazz, and afrobeat at nearly every venue in town. Over 20 different acts to check out tonight follow.

For those who are getting a little burned out on jazz and funk, Slayer is playing the Civic tonight. For everyone else, there are plenty of shows on tap. Allen Toussaint is playing on Frenchmen and  the Word are playing the Joy. The there are plenty of mashup of A-list talent to be found all over town. Details follow.


Jazz Fest After Hours: 4.25.15


Whether you braved the rain at the Fest today or rested up during daylight, there are so many acts tonight, that it is like an entire second festival. Trombone Shorty is hosting an all-star Bash, The Meter Men are playing with Phish’s Paige McConnell. Galactic is at Tips.
